From the beginning of creation God has been shining light into darkness. He made the earth and lit it with the sun. Adam and Eve enjoyed perfect light. Then sin entered through their rebellion and a new, deeper darkness came into the world. Throughout the old testament we hear of a new hope, a new light, that will pierce this darkness. The night will be awoken and death and darkness will scatter. That light is Christ. But first He had to come, be born of a virgin, grow up, and die. Every year at Christmastime we are reminded that the cost of our sin was so great that God had to send His only Son to take on flesh and dwell (tabernacle) among us, live the life we could not, and die the death we should. But, it is also a celebration. Because Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, did exactly that - He won! The light has won. It has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus. (2 Cor. 4:6) Jesus would overcome the darkness of sin and death through His death and sacrifice. Then he would rise. The one who descended would ascend to the right hand of the Father to rule in glory. That is worth singing about. Christmas is about so much, but ultimately, it is about the Gospel. At this years Cause For Praise we want to remember and rehears that story. We also want to celebrate the release of our first Christmas album, Let There Be Light. Six songs to help us wonder at the wondrous mystery of God made man. It is our prayer that this collection of songs will help you and your family do that. Join us on November 30th at 7p as we join with John the baptist and prepare the way, testifying about the one true light, so that all might see and believe in Him.
